Exemplary Slander
"These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren." - Proverbs 6:16-19
Dear Remnant,
My name is Sean Morris and I entreat you to consider the slander in the screen-shot seen below. This kind of slander is exemplary of what is happening on a wide-spread scale. May God have mercy.

How I loath to address this quote! How I abhor that it would be seen by any man that lives! But I cannot forebear to expose such heinous slander which is being propagated as truth.
Firstly, this quote was NOT from "The Church of Wells". This quote was from my wife, Preethi Morris. It was found on her own personal blog which she had since before we were married. She was talking about her husband in endearing terms, yes, and biblical terms. Did not Peter say, "Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughters ye are, as long as ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement" (1 Peter 3:6)? Notice that Sarah called Abraham, "lord", with a lower-case "l". Jon Green has removed this statement from its context and from its author, successfully framing us to appear cultish.
After asking my wife to remove the quote from the blog-post (lest more harm is done), I asked her to give an explanation of what she was meaning when she wrote that statement. This explanation is provided below.

Preethi Morris:
To whom it may concern,
This is a brief explanation of a statement I had written in my blog "A Letter to Friends and Family". The statement is in red text in the below and has been removed from my blog for the time being, not because I am recanting or that I disagree with any aspect of it, but to avoid further confusion due to doctrinal misunderstanding and potential misrepresentation of the meaning. And the LORD has given me a husband who is ever filled with the Holy Spirit....words cannot describe the presence and love of the LORD Jesus Christ with him! He is my lord and master...how I need Christ in Sean to be saved! The Biblical premise for the phrase "lord and master" is taken from 1 Peter 3:6 which refers to the submission of Sara: "Even as Sara obeyed Abraham, calling him lord: whose daughter ye are, as long a ye do well, and are not afraid with any amazement". Likewise by my statement I expressed a heart of concurrence with the written Text, whereby I desire the righteous standing of being a daughter of Sara, in subjection to God-given authorities, in this case, my husband, Sean. Throughout Scriptures we observe the institution of God-given authorities as means of grace in the steadfastness of faith in the lives of saints. For example, wives are commanded to submit to their husbands because the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the Church (1 Cor. 11). And as the church is subject to Christ, so the Scriptures command the wife to be subject to her husband. The salvific role of the husband involves loving his wife, giving his life for her that he might sanctify and cleanse her through the washing of water with the WORD to present her to the LORD as a glorious soul, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. (please see Eph 5:22-27). Indeed the Scriptures parallel these actions of Christ towards the church to those of the Godly man to his wife. It is important to note, that though the LORD employs Spiritual authorities as means of grace for enduring faith, the salvation itself is founded upon the Person of Christ who ever lives to intercede for saints covered by His blood. Truly the LORD employs manifold means of grace for our salvation: Fatherly chastening (Heb 12:5-11), pastors (Jer 3:15, Eph 4:11-16), exhortation of the brethren (Heb 3:13, Heb 10:25), husbands (Eph 5:22-27, 1 Pet 3:6), the "way of escape" in the midst of temptation (1 Cor 10:13)... These are not the basis of salvation, but God's sovereign means of accomplishing the perseverance of His saints! Praise the King! Please see the following passages which express the salvific nature of God-given authorities whose delivered grace itself was purchased by His blood!: "For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you. And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again." -Phil 1:23-26 "And when the Lord raised them up judges, then the Lord was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it repented the Lord because of their groanings by reason of them that oppressed them and vexed them. -Judges 2:18 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which He hath purchased with His own blood." -Acts 20:28 |
